RESPECT-A REMINDER

It is important that we remember that this is a safe place for the members of the Latino Men's Group. This is not a place to challenge one another but a place to challenges ourselves. Let's not make comments of one another...Remember, that we are family....

Sorry.

I would like to apologize for being so angry yesterday. I know this space should be safe and it did not feel that way for me yesterday. Sorry Richard and to all of my fellow LMG members.

My Bad.....

'till next time....

Well, the BlogMaster up above says we are family, so with that idea, I want to say a few things, not like I'm trying to be the Grand Mediator or Big Bro or to make excuses for anybody. I'm still a new guy around here. I know the Mens Group folks by face but not by name yet. Anyway, as a re-cap, what happened here at the blogs was that Negro13 was sharing some reflections of his early years, and Anonymous said that because Negro13 was leaving out some incidental information from his recollections, that made him a liar. The use of this rather strong word caused Enoch to take offense at the tone that Anonymous was using. Again, I don't know the backgrounds of these folks, but let me offer a comment. I had the fortune to be raised in a bilingual (Spanish-English)home. And I know that in Spanish when you say "Are you lyin'to me?"(?Son mentiras?) or "You're such a liar" (Como eres mentiroso), it usually is said in a lighter/more kidding way that when you say "Liar!" in English. Again,I'm not trying to make excuses for anybody, but maybe Anonymous was thinking in Spanish when he wrote his comment about Negro13. In other words, he meant it in a softer, kidding way than maybe the rest of us are reading his words. So maybe the discord that erupted here in OUR blogs is really an issue of cultural differences. What do you think, family members? Please speak up! Thanks.

I do see what you are saying. However, I don't think that was the case in this situation. I have once again gone back and read my entry and the entry of Anonymous and I still feel that this person was being disrespectful. If you notice when you read that he/she writes that I have "a lot of imagination" when what I was writing was really a true memory. How can anyone tell me what is true and what is imagined? I don't think he was expressing him/herself in a "soft" manner or "kidding". It seems to me like it is a personl attack on my entry and I find that to be VERY rude.
